Dilip Kumar Smarak Mahavidyalaya was founded on 2002 in Jahanabad, Fatehpur, at the border of Kanpur nagar. The nearest railway station from the college is Ghatampur which is on the Kanpur-Chitrakoot track.

Realizing the need of higher education in rural area, Dr. Uday Narayan Sachan who is famous social worker of Kanpur founded Sw. Dilip Kumar Samarak Mahavidyalaya and manager Mrs. Mithlesh Kumari under whose able leadership the college achieved new and newer heights. The college is affiliated to Chhatrapati Sahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur.
